Vision & Design Principles

Log0 is built on a strict set of principles that govern every protocol decision.

Zero-Log Architecture Log0 is designed to function without generating or retaining access logs. Nodes do not store persistent traffic history as part of normal operation. The system prioritizes ephemeral state, short-lived routing context, and minimal retention.

Metadata Resistance Metadata—relationships between identities, timing patterns, and traffic behavior—is often more valuable than content itself. Log0 aims to minimize metadata observability through routing obfuscation, dynamic peer selection, and traffic pattern reduction.

On-Device Intelligence Instead of trusting a remote service to “protect” privacy, Log0 runs intelligence locally. Threat detection, route decisions, and environment adaptation occur on-device, reducing dependence on centralized inference.

Decentralized by Default Log0 does not depend on any specific server cluster, gateway, or hosted service. The network is constructed from peers, and coordination happens through distributed mechanisms.

Resilience Under Hostility Log0 assumes adversaries exist: network manipulators, data extractors, and surveillance operators. The system is designed to remain functional even under degraded connectivity, censorship attempts, and infrastructure volatility.
